The Pentagon was the focus of a spirited Peace demonstration on March 17, 2007. The crowd in the tens of thousands heard from over 30 riveting speakers. Activist Cindy Sheehan said: “Let’s stop this b... s...These b... s.... wars. It’s for the corporations...to make them rich and line the pockets of the...war criminals.” She added: “We’re the deciders. And we have decided that we want Bush and Cheney impeached...indicted...and imprisoned.” |

The Day That Destroyed The Immigrant Family |

 Boston, Mass. - Yesterday, a humanitarian crisis emerged from the aftermath of the March 6, 2007 raids by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at the Michael Bianco Inc. factory in New Bedford. Throughout New Bedford, children were left at day care centers, babies with babysitters and elders without caregivers. Throughout the day and evening, hundreds descended upon Our Lady of Guadalupe at St. James Church looking for loved ones.
Corinn Williams, Executive Director of the Community Economic Development Center (CEDC) in New Bedford, expressed the urgent need they have for help, "Families are in desperate need of basics like diapers, baby food, and formula. This is like a natural disaster created by our federal government." |

Chelsea and Low Income Communities Fight Power Plant, Against Environmental Injustice |

 In an astounding display of solidarity, community members from Roxbury, Dorchester, Chelsea, East Boston and their local government officials gathered at Chelsea High School last week to speak out against plans to build a diesel power plant in Chelsea. Standing before the Energy Facilities Siting Board, a board known for historically approving every siting permit request presented before them, people bitterly complained about Energy Management Inc.’s (EMI) railroading strategy to build the diesel plant a mere 250 yards from Chelsea’s only elementary school. |

Boston Activists Die-In To Protest Merrill Lynch's Funding of Dirty Energy |

 On Wednesday Feb. 21, local Boston environmental and human rights advocates in collaboration with the Rainforest Action Network (RAN) staged a dramatic "die-in" in from of the Merrill Lynch office downtown at One Financial Center.
Activists fell to the ground crying black tears and spitting up pollution sludge, while "medics" dressed in hazmat suits and masks attempted to save their lives. Other demonstrators, also in hazmat suits, were barred from entering the building as they attempted to deliver a letter demanding Merrill Lynch's Boston branch help stop the bank's financing of TXU's dirty energy plan. |
