Boston Students Walk Out of School to Protest Budget |

About 2,000 Boston high school students walked out of class today at 11:30 AM to protest the inadequate school budget, which threatens to cut language classes and transportation. The walkout was sponsored by the Boston Education Justice Alliance. Students marched downtown to Downtown Crossing and the State House. |

The Boston Herald is reporting that "mayhem" erupted, on the basis of a lone bottle allegedly thrown at the cops policing the march. Three students were arrested, but the Herald article gives no evidence that any of them threw the bottle.

Boston.com is reporting that the walkout was organized entirely by students, with minimal support from the Boston Education Justice Alliance and Alliance to Reclaim Our Schools. The article also puts the number of protesters at 3,500, considerably higher than was first reported.. |
