BOSTON: STAPLES CAMPAIGN: Boston Globe Ombudsman Attacks Forest Ethics; Activists Respond
On Monday, June 11, Boston Globe ombudsman Jack Thomas published a column attacking Forest Ethics, an environmental group. The controversy originated in Forest Ethics' unsuccessful attempt to place an ad in the Globe critical of Staples, a major Globe advertiser. Staples is based in Framingham, and activists in greater Boston are involved in the campaign against Staples.

Amer Jubran was released from jail yesterday after having been arrested while leading a peaceful anti-Zionist demonstration in Brookline on June 10, 2001. He now faces felony charges for allegedly kicking a man attending Israeli Independence celebrations.
